Seven groups announce an alliance against the federal government

Updated

Seven armed and political groups announced an alliance on 20 September, saying they want to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government and replace it with a transitional one. The Tigray People's Liberation Front leads it.

We have not found any source that names all seven. Until one does, we cannot say who is actually in it — which matters, because the alliance is the body credited with the drone attacks on Addis Ababa.

What complicates it

Nobody has published the announcement itself, or a list of who is in the alliance. That is a large gap for a body being credited with attacks on the capital.

What would change our mind

The announcement text, or any source naming the member groups. Evidence that the alliance does not function as a single actor would complicate it.
