Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera, 2 October, by Al Jazeera Staff and Reuters. Reports that the commander of the Tigray Peace Forces declared on social media late on Thursday that TPLF forces had been wiped out, and that the group is close to gaining full control of Tigray. States the claim 'could not be immediately verified by Al Jazeera'. Reports that TPLF chairperson Debretsion Gebremichael acknowledged on Thursday that federal forces had occupied some parts of the region but said his forces would counter-attack 'in due course'. Al Jazeera Arabic Ethiopia Bureau Chief Mohammed Taha Tawakel is quoted saying the federal army is clearly providing full support to the TPF, that the original TPLF still holds several towns, and that this raises the prospect of the conflict becoming an internal struggle among Tigrayans.
